Ideals and Proposals
The concept of “Goura-Vrindávana´s” Project is primarily an Idea of the spiritual master, Srila Prabhupada. He conceived an alternative model of life style for everyone who desires to cultivate a healthy spiritual life, in a proper environment, out of the turbulence of the urban zone. Srila Prabhupada left to us a huge legacy of teachings and practical orientations. Among his points for the perfect functioning of a rural community, we can point out he followings:
a) Simple living — one of the thoughts that Srila Prabhupada most referred to was: “Simple Living & High Thinking.”
b) God consciousness or Krishna consciousness — God in the center of our lives and notion that everything that exists belongs to His Energies.
c) Community Life — Everyone can see that modern way of life does not favor the spiritual ideals. The best for those who cultivate such ideals is to act as a group and create a favorable atmosphere.
d) Sádhana, spiritual daily practices — Spiritual life requires practice and self-discipline. In a proper environment, the results are much more tangible.
e) God consciousness education — The urban life becomes everyday more and more mundane and materialistic. The formation of children’s character, both in the family environment and at school, have been largely attacked by evil influences. We must help our children to become honest people.
f) Respect to Nature — Nowadays we watch the depredating show of systematic destruction of our planet, due to modern man’s mentality of greed and exploitation. We need to change this perspective and establish new models of relations with Nature.
g) Knowing the life cycles — Many people, nowadays, due to an extremely artificial and massive way of life, lost their notion of Nature’s cycles of life. The practice of rural life give us the clear vision of the life miracles in Nature.
What is, therefore, in few words, the goal of Goura-Vrindávana?
Our goal is to transform this little piece of land tha Krishna put in our hands, in an ecological sanctuary, as well as a spiritual sanctuary.
The main idea is to create an irradiating and multiplying model of a self-sufficient, sustainable, ecologic, charity, and God consciousness community. If this purpose is fulfilled, we will be sure that our passage through this life will not be in vain.
