Goura`s Dried Bananas

The area of the community, specially due to its humid weather, is particularly appropriated for banana cultivation.  The banana trees live together with native species of Rain Forest. The experience has shown that monoculture of bananas, as well as any other species, is totally a disaster, in short and long terms.  In this type of conventional agriculture, the plantations are totally vulnerable to many kinds of diseases, due to the deforestation, organic pooring of the soil and unlimited use of chemicals, among many other factors.

Our bananas are completely organic!!! Our bananas are treated according to sustainable development principles known as agro-forestry.

An other factor that is very important in our production is the social and economic aspect.  The local Banana Production lost its place in the market to the big productions that use industrial technology and other chemical methods, that turn the fruits more attractive (in spite of its poisoning) to the eyes of general public.  In this way, most of the poor and small agricultors  of the area stopped their activities.  Our factory absorbs the production of the neighbors generating an economic improvement.  With this help, this rural activity is little by little being reactivated in the local farms.

Our production is handmade and based on rational use of natural energy. We are the only factory to produce 3 kinds of dried bananas: nanica (banana d’água), prata (silver) e ouro (gold).  Our main one is banana prata (silver) rich in potssium and “light” in frutose.
